About The NSCT

The Society, a Registered Charity, was founded in 1977 to encourage the study and preservation of costume and textiles, and to researching into the history appertaining to their origins and use.

The area covered is approximately that between Nottingham, Chester and the Scottish border.

Within this area meetings are held in different venues every three or four months, and range from general visits to places of interest to detailed seminars on particular topics.

Members are drawn from all walks of life, some with considerable knowledge of the history of costume and textiles, but many who have an enthusiastic interest and are keen to learn about the subjects.

New members are always welcome.

We also produce a range of patterns available for purchase which are based on original museum pieces and can be ordered online.
